In With the Old part 3- DONE! YAY

This project took a while to complete... But I am so happy with the results, it is the window above my kitchen sink I never had but always wanted.

(sorry for the glare - it was really hard to get a good picture)

I took this picture when I was in St. John USVI.
We put LED light strips all around the inside of the frame (which made this project more costly than I wanted) we then glued gems we got from Michael's around the border.
The gems helped filter the light in a softer way.

On a side note...

Alabama and many other communities are really needing our help.  It is so hard to imagine what our fellow Americans are going through.  Although I am not down there, I have family in Alabama who have had to leave their homes due to no water, electric or gas.  We are still blessed that everyone is alive and ok but there are many other families who are not.
In just Alabama alone, 1 million people are without power and 1200 displaced from their homes.

You can donate to Red Cross for as little as $10.00 by going to http://www.redcross.org/ or you can

Ocean Art~

My very talented husband made this ocean for our Christmas village.
We no longer have enough room for our village so we trucked through the basement dusted it off  and are now using it
as a piece of wall art in the office.
All the fish, sharks & sea life are made by hand with clay and hand painted.
The shells we either had from our years of collecting or were a purchase.
He carved the ocean out of foam board insulation & painted it with different shades of blue to create the illusion of depth.

He created the image of waves by using a non-yellowing clear epoxy resin. Which is also over the top of the piece to protect it.
The ocean measures 3x5 feet, I think it's a pretty amazing piece of art.

We both love the ocean and any opportunity we have to visit her we try to take.  I wish to live near the ocean someday but for now I will visit and represent her through art and home decor.

Church Windows

I am so excited about this very special find and how ironic it happened to come on Easter weekend.

Church Windows from 1871! Seriously so cool!

My husband was at one of his clients home which use to be a church.  He goes to the cellar and finds these old windows...

He asks the homeowner about them and learns that they are dated back to 1871 and are from the old bell tower on the original church.

Here is a picture of the house when it was a church, you can see the windows on the bell tower.

He shares a book about the brief history on this property.

This is what the house looks like today.

No more windows...sad.

However, good for me because somehow Todd ended up taking these home!
How amazing! I am overwhelmed with awe.  I'm not sure what we are going to do with them yet but my creative juices are going crazy!

Right now one of them is hanging on my wall...

These are so interesting and beautiful and I feel so blessed.

Last Cabinet finished in the Bathroom!

Ahhh shucks!  I forgot to take before pictures of this cabinet. It looked like the sink cabinet, big, chunky & brown....Here's the after pictures~

I chose a pretty fabric to cover the nook.  I used spray adhesive to attach it, which smelled really bad but was very easy to work with.
I think this helped soften the piece and gave it the look I was trying to achieve.

I am very happy at how it turned out especially since this was my first "big" project.

Happy Easter~

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter.
I do not usually decorate for Easter
but I do "spring" the house up a little bit.

Here are a few pictures.

That Darn cat, I had throw this last one in because she always plops herself down right in front of me if I am not paying attention to her...she just cracks me up....

Have a Safe and Happy Easter~

Easy Spring Project

I had this old blue lantern thingy for a while and wasn't quite sure what to do with it...

I started thinking how I should decorate it for spring.  I can't even begin to tell you how much inspiration I get from other bloggers.  I got some different ideas and threw together some of my own things and I am so happy with the results.

This is what it looks like without the blue glass shade over it.

And here it is with the glass over it which is how it is displayed.

Cute huh?

In With The Old part 2

Remember this old window I got at the antique store?

We added a wood frame to the back for depth.

And sanded, primed and painted....

Looks good so far, we used a latex paint called Antique White...there is still a lot of work to do but this is where we are at so far.

I am very excited to share the final product, hope to have soon!

Imagine-Dream-Inspire

This is the message I see every morning when I wake.

I picked this up at my sister's garage sale last summer.
I love it and every morning I read this message and it really sets the tone for my day.

Not for the weak...

This is disturbing...I am embarrassed to say, this is what I have in my bathroom...but...NOT for long....

I have been deeply involved in a bathroom redo.

Since I am still unemployed I have to learn to do things on a budget and by myself.

So, my time this past week has been dedicated to the upstairs bathroom.  Unfortunately, I got very sick in the middle of this project which really slowed me down.  But I am hoping to have most done by the end of this weekend.

This is the 2nd go-around, I wish I had taken a picture of the 1st but it was bad and I had to start all over.

Here's where I am at now...

I hope to have the before/after pics by this weekend.
Wish me luck! =)

A Box of WHAT?!?

Yesterday my husband comes home with a box of things...

One of his customers gave him all these miniatures...They are all made by Durham Industries from mid to late '70's.

So, I googled them and they go from about $6 to $8 each.  There are about 40 total, not bad but I have no idea what the heck I am going to do with them.

My Top 5 (At least for the moment)

I go through phases of things I just have to have.  They seem to change very frequently.  Right now, here are the things I just cannot live without!

Blueberries -  I CANNOT get enough!   Not only are they sweet, an antioxident powerhouse but they are a terrific source of vitamin C, vitamin k, manganese, and fiber, while having only about 81 calories per cup and ZERO FAT!...Now that's what I'm talking about!

Auction Kings - How did I not know about this show?  I'm so addicted to it, not to mention Paul Brown is not bad on the eyes either.  Who's up for going to Atlanta? lol

Banana Boat Sunless Tanner - I need a little help from a...bottle?..YES!  My skin is just pasty white after this horrific winter.  Banana Boat works without streaking and doesn't make my skin orange.

Cherry Limeade Sparkler from Taco Bell - I am not even kidding these drinks are so refreshing and deelish!  I go to Taco Bell just to get this, that is if I can muenster up enough change between my purse & my car.  I refuse to use my debit card for $1.79...lol

Banana Milkshakes (although it really is a smoothie - no milk) recipe from Joy Bauer, RD- YUM! My new favorite breakfast! Gives a full feeling and kick starts my day! (see recipe below)

Mmmm, so frothy!

and last but not least...
Blogging, I may not be great at it but it is very meditative for me and it makes me smile..and..smiling's my favorite

Banana Milkshake

Developed by Joy Bauer, RD, for Everyday Health
This milkshake is gentle on your GI tract and perfect for an early morning pick-me-up when you don’t feel like eating. Use very ripe bananas as they will be easier to digest.

• 2 ripe small bananas or 1 large ripe banana
• 1 cup yogurt, low-fat plain, any brand (I make it with     vanilla yogurt too and it's just as yummy)
• ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

• 1 tablespoon honey or raw sugar (I use honey but a little less than 1 tbsp, I don't like mine to have that much honey flavor)
• 5 ice cubes

Blend all ingredients together until thoroughly combined and frothy.

Amazing Wind Turbines

Traveling along route 65 through Indiana there are miles and miles of wind turbines.  It is quite an impressive sight for those of you who have not seen this before.  They are massive and somewhat creepy as you watch these giant turbines turning in the wind.  It feels as if I am in some sort of a sci-fi movie.  Intrigued I had to snap a few shots...

To give you an idea on just how massive these are, the posts are 265-feet tall and the 3 blades are each another 132 feet making the total height 400 feet.
There are over 900 of these on the farms and yes the farmers are getting paid for each one on their property.  WOW!

Yummy Cupcakes!

Those of you that know me know I love cupcakes & cakes!  I love to make, bake but mostly eat them...While in Louisville, I heard of a cupcakery called The Cupcake Shoppe.  So, off we went and OMGness!  YUMM!

Blueberry w/cream cheese frosting, Pretty & Pink,
Banana Chipped & Mint Condition

I think my fave was the Blueberry, it has real blueberry chunks inside and pairs so well with the cream cheese frosting.  Of course I could not eat all these so I cut them up to taste each one and hubby got his choice.

Ahhh, Cupcake Take Me Away~
